Increase Health and Productivity with Intelligent Daylight Control

In Malaysia, where the days are consistently warm and humid year-round, daylight may not change significantly with the seasons, yet the necessity for a comfortable lighting environment is still crucial. Due to the frequent cloud cover and tropical rainfall, natural light can vary, which affects well-being and productivity. Daylight control technology automatically adjusts lighting to align with the natural rhythms of the day, creating a consistently pleasant atmosphere, no matter the weather changes. In this edition of Loxone Explained, explore how to optimize daylight control technology to ensure a perfect lighting atmosphere throughout the year.

Smart lighting for health and efficiency

Having adequate lighting has a significant impact on our well-being and performance, particularly on dark autumn and winter days. Soft and warm light creates a relaxing mood in the morning and evening, while stronger light promotes concentration and alertness during the day.

This adjustment, also known as Human Centric Lighting (HCL), mimics the natural progression of sunshine. Daylight control has a good impact on offices, care and healthcare institutions, and private homes. Employees stay focused and awake, patients recover faster, and simulated daylight control at home promotes well-being and comfort.

How color temperatures impact our well-being

Light hues like warm white, blue, and red have a distinct impact on our well-being and productivity. Warm white light (about 2700K) has a relaxing impact in the early morning. The quantity of blue in the light increases during the day (neutral white 3300-5300K, sunshine white starting at 5300K), promoting attention and alertness. In the evening, red light helps the body prepare for rest and sleep.

The frequency of light determines its effect on us. Blue light has shorter wavelengths and a higher frequency, which increases our alertness and focus.

Warm white light, on the other hand, has longer wavelengths and has a soothing effect, as the body produces the “sleep hormone” melatonin as soon as blue light is removed. This is why it is more difficult to go asleep if you are using your cell phone, laptop, or watching TV before bedtime.

The sophisticated lighting control system from Loxone mimics the progression of daylight. This produces a comfortable lighting environment that improves productivity and well-being, particularly during the gloomier fall and winter months.

Using the app as a central location to regulate lighting moods

You may quickly modify lighting moods to suit your needs using the Loxone App.

Additionally, the app provides complete daylight control management, allowing you to alter the light’s hue and intensity whenever you choose. Lighting sceneries that automatically adjust the light for you can also be configured.
